Around 60 VBEA leaders joined 8 of the 11 school board members for table discussions about issues of planning time, new programs and many of the other issues and concerns raised by the VBEA Elementary School and Middle School Advisory Committees.  School Board members in attendance were: Todd Davidson, Em Davis, Dan Edwards, Brent Mckenzie, Sam Reid, Patrick Salyer, Sandra Smith-Jones and Carolyn Weems.  School Board members Bill Brunke, Dottie Holtz and Ashley McLeod all had schedule conflicts but said that they would have loved to have been there and would like to hear from any of our VBEA members about their concerns. 

The VBEA would like to thank the school administration for their support as both Dr. Jeanne Crocker and Ms. Shirann Lewis were in attendance.  We would also like to thank the administration for the recent announcement that they are conducting teacher focus groups to examine the workload of elementary teachers. Each elementary school will be sending a teacher from each grade level, one specialist and one special education teacher to attend one of 5 regional meetings being held throughout the city.  Thank you for creating this opportunity to address our concerns!  Click here to see more pictures of the meeting.
